Plants Resources for MY Paintings

After about close to a year of blogging about plants, I decided to compile all the plants that I managed to capture using my camera phone Nokia N93 i. There appear in a special photo blog I did during the last week of June in Bintulu. The blog is called All The Plants. Most of the images were taken during my travels during the last two years between Bintulu and Kuching. These images are useful aids in my proposed paintings based on Malaysian flora. Furthermore , for the purpose of the next solo exhibition , this blog would act as a useful reference to the paintings. The images are inspirational resources for the paintings.

Above are my rare collection of Jose Feliciano albums which is a fantastic reminder of the good old days when albums were distributed in cassettes tapes. Time indeed change. They fly.

The Overtones

In 1974 ( 35 years ago ) I wrote a poem entitled 'The Overtones', without the slightest idea of how or by what means could I share my learning ( lofty ideals ?) to the whole wide world as per the last three lines of the poem. I meant the universe back then.
It beats me now. With the benefit of hindsight, all is clear. It's the power of the Internet. Did I knew intuitively before that it could be so easily done like today with the world wide web? It is a mystery answered.
The picture ( inset) is an image taken out of my scrap book about the same time and dated 30th July,1974. The sketch was done to illustrate the poem. The scrapbook will be among the items to be exhibited in the 2nd Solo. (Note: 'M' is the acronym for 'MOOD' - my creative identity)

The Overtones

And every morning I wake up

To see the blues

The reds and yellows

Whirl in endless ecstasy

For here I am

Alone on a blue mountain

The red sun

Come! Ablaze me in my loneliness

And let the golden yellow

Shine my brilliance and thought

Across the universe.

180 Days Round the World

It took 180 Days to go Round the World before. Now I've got 180 days to mynexart. Journey wise my cats have achieved 15,600 km . What will their cummulative record be at the time of the exhibition? Anway as part of the show the catsy stuff planned are as follow:
# Catsy paintings - to be rendered in all media
# On the day's focus about cats, INUL and DAISY will be on show too
# Achievement award for 'The Most Travelled Cats In Malaysia"

Poster Art

Today I've decided to add another category in the exhibited works i.e. Poster Art. This means that for each individual day I will release relevant posters highlighting the day's theme. For example: Cut Flowers, Landscpaing, Wildlife, etc . Now, these posters can be done in photography, Stenciling, etc.

Songs for the record

The clock is ticking and its 33 weeks remaining. But I feel better this time around in Kuching(since 2 feb) because I'm able to sing and memorise the wordings of the songs that will be incorporated in the exhibition. Shall I put them as background music? Anyway, I'm thinking seriously to do a professional quality recording of all the songs in a proper recording studio before the singing are to be broadcasted. I have asked a musician friend of mine in Bintulu to do a minus one to some of the songs already. The song list are as follow:

Pointers to a Successful Exhibition

This exhibition will be a very unique one. You have lots of experience in designing and executing exhibitions before. Thus the technicalities are not much of a problem. It is the conceptualisation that is critical at this juncture. For this, I am thinking this afternoon of some points to consider like below:

Pointers to a Successful Exhibition:
You know what you want.
You have a mission, a goal.
You have a time schedule to be adhered to.
You have the spirit.
Contribute uniquely.
Understand your deep instincts.
Express first to clarify your thinking.
Be objective about the whole show.
Material rewards are automatic.
Have a succesful show.

The above jottings are pointers or key ideas that I must adhere whenever I'm planning or executing the programmes. Time is of the essence how because there's only 40 weeks remaining.
However, to capture the above pointers well, I like to express them here in a story-like form, albeit a poem!

Essence of Well Being

When words are sharper
than the sword
when a fling casts tight
what is held
with lesser might
I'll turn back
to the secret of well being.

Live to abide
only the essence
that spark to light
the channel to self-knowledge
sticky confidence and believe
to pale my stubborn ignorance
and embrace dear Truth
and make humble
this believing heart.

Now,Strike! the wheels
whirling to grasp
the deepest conscience
forever renewing
this hurried life
but remain still
true to myself.

Use your experience with hard concrete. However for this use ferro cement method. Other objects can be added eg mosaic, tiles etc.
Thus this could be additional categories of art works and briefly describe s 'concrete expressions'.

Khat

I need to include this as a special subject. I am thinking of having the khat in/under/over reflections of water. This could be in watercolour, batik, paint or concrete.

Timer to Exhibition or What have I done?

I have added today a timer to this blog. I guess I need a constant reminder,catalyst and sense of urgency to my project. If I label them according to weeks remaining, I would be able to know my progress as per weeks that flew by and how many more ( or less) in store.
